The Training Season

For me, the time from January through May is a time for teaching and training. My annual kayak class will begin again in January at Lafayette College in Easton, PA. This year, in addition to teaching basic kayaking, we will have sessions especially for recreational boats, canoes and advanced boaters who want to hone their skills.

My goal is to get this session down on video so I can share the training with others outside our area.

Becuase RiverGrizzly LLC does traing, video, photo and lots of adventure sports work this blog is going to branch out on the topics we cover. I've been meaning to do this for a while but life has gotten in the way.

New York Harbor Safety Video

We have been working for quite some time to win a grant to make a safety video for New York Harbor. The idea began as a result of a story a friend told about a kayak trip he took on the Hudson River near Manhattan. It seems that a couple members of the party wandered off and got a little too close to some harbor traffic for the comfort level of the pilots of the larger vessels.

So a couple of us thought it would be a good idea to put together an informational video. Word of this idea migrated to the powers that be at the New Jersey Department of Transportation, Maritime Division, who were thinking along the same lines. So here we are.

I'll let you know how it goes but I'll spare the details until after we win or lose the grant.
